Gregory Cushman, an environmental studies professor, spoke at the protest in support of the graduate teaching assistants.

He relayed support for the graduate students from OneKU, a faculty collective that organized in the summer to press the university on matters of public health and budgeting during COVID-19. University administrators haven't been transparent with either faculty or graduate students when it has come to budgeting, he said.
